There is a kind of exhaustion that shows up in businesses that are trying to do two jobs at once. They are trying to run the business. And they are trying to carry the stack underneath the business.

A lot of infrastructure pain does not come from the stack being impossible. It comes from the stack being too shared, too blurred, too dependent on conditions the business does not truly control.
